Brazil Environmental Workers Sign Agreement To End Strike Holding Up Oil Permits

Brazilian Environmental Workers End Strike

Agreement Reached to Improve Working Conditions

Deal Includes Pay Raises, Benefits, and Equipment Upgrades

SAO PAULO/RIO DE JANEIRO, Aug 12 (Reuters) - A union representing Brazil's federal environment workers announced it had reached an agreement with the government to end a strike that has disrupted operations in several states.

The agreement, signed on Tuesday, includes pay raises, improved benefits, and upgrades to equipment. The union had been demanding these improvements to address safety concerns and ensure workers had adequate resources to carry out their duties.

The strike, which began earlier this month, had led to the suspension of inspections and other key environmental protection activities. It had also raised concerns about the potential impact on Brazil's efforts to combat deforestation and protect its biodiversity.

Under the terms of the agreement, environmental workers are expected to return to work immediately. The government has pledged to invest in the necessary equipment and resources to support their operations.

The union expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the negotiations and thanked the government for its willingness to address their concerns. The strike has now been officially called off, and environmental workers are expected to resume their duties in full.
